WELLNESS & PASTORAL CARE
The Pastoral Care/Wellness and Circle of Friends Ministries continually search for ways to address needs and identify resources that will nurture health, healing and wellness, enabling all to serve God by serving others. The current areas of focus are:
Circle of Friends – a support team to provide assistance to the family of a gravely ill or deceased parishioner based on wishes and needs of the family. This could include, house sitting, running errands and/or providing food. Hospital and Home visits – the goal is to visit parishioners in hospitals, nursing homes, and the home bound. Running errands, providing transportation and or meals might be needed.
New Baby Ministry – Upon the birth of a new born or an adoption the support team may be called upon (based on need) to supply meals for a couple of days to the family.
Exercise Class- At 9 am each Wednesday, a group meets in the parish hall for low impact stretch and tone exercises led by a certified trainer. There is a minimal cost for this all inspiration, fun, and no perspiration class.
Wellness - Seeks to encourage each person's physical, emotional and spiritual well being in the context of their relationships with God, family and neighbor. The efforts of this committee are to develop creative ways to address needs and identify resources that nurture health, healing and wellness, enabling all to serve God by serving others. Past activities have included educational events, health fairs and social outings.
The committee has organized day trips offering fun, fellowship and education. Speakers are also invited to present programs that deal with many interests.
Volunteers are welcomed and needed in all areas of this most vital link in the Parish life at St. Andrew’s. Won’t you come and join in?
