CHILDREN'S SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday school is offered at 10 AM on Sunday mornings from September to May for ages 2 through 18.  The preschool class uses the Beulah Land felt board series to learn Bible stories.  They then enjoy a craft, some free time, and a feast.  (The feast is one cookie and a little juice with prayers of thanks being offered by everyone.)  Our kindergarten through fifth grade class enjoys the stories of Godly Play, along with work time and a feast.  The junior high and high school classes offer a variety of subjects depending on the interests of the students.  The First Sunday of each month, the classes combine to focus on a particular theme or saint.

CHILDREN'S FELLOWSHIP

Children may leave the service after the Gospel to hear a children’s sermon.  These talks relate to the Gospel of the day.  If you see an adult leader stand at the side door and children starting to gather, then the children may leave to hear the talk.  Children rejoin their parents for communion. Volunteers are needed about once a month.

EPISCOPAL YouTH COMMUNITY (EYC)-- Led by Mark Powell

The EYC is an opportunity for young people in middle school and high school grades to meet in a Christian community for fellowship, service and fun.  The group usually meets on Sunday late afternoon – early evening, during the school year.  Led by volunteers from the membership of St. Andrew’s, we are a group currently averaging fourteen youth at our meetings.  Activities have included such things as bowling, collecting canned food for the needy, participating in Youth Sunday, participating in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, going to the movies, having a lock-in at the church and at the beach – just to name a few things.  We are always looking for involvement by all of our youth, and encourage their return with friends that they would like to bring in to a good Christian environment.  Parents and grandparents and all parish family members are asked to support this group with ideas, prayers, and at times financial support. Our leadership currently includes:  Kate Carpenter, Mindy Wootten, Tina Poisson, Ashleigh and Newland Crocker, David and Rosemary Bramigk.

PRESCHOOL: AN EXCITING NEW MINISTRY-- Led by Catherine Hedrick

St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound opened a preschool in September 2002. We had classes for one, two, and three year old children.  Four teachers were hired for the 30 children that were enrolled and our first year was a great success. In 2003, we added a four-year-old class and hired four more teachers.  The total number of children grew to 43.  This has been an exciting time for St. Andrew’s and we have continued to add to our curriculum.  Each week we offer a chapel service for the children to learn about stories of the Bible and they also attend a music class each week. We have created a loving and warm Christian environment where children can learn and play.  We will continue to offer small classes and low student-teacher ratios.  This provides more one on one learning for all of the students. St. Andrew’s Preschool is a Christian Oriented program designed to promote creativity, physical, social/emotional, mental and spiritual growth and development for children. Parents of prospective students as well as Parishioners that would like to help out are encouraged to get in touch with us.
