8th Annual “Shuck-On-the-Sound” Oyster Roast – February 1st, 2025

Over the weekend, we celebrated our 8th annual “Shuck-On-The-Sound” oyster roast at St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound! There was great food, music, and company among Christ and our community. Our net proceeds supported the Episcopal Relief Fund as a part of St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound’s community outreach. It was a shuckin’ good time!

This year’s oyster roast was a big success thanks to a dedicated team led by Kevin Davidson and Jonathan Barbour. The “Shuck-On-the-Sound” oyster roast began back in 2017 as a casual get-together in the church’s main parking lot. We had about 50 people, a few. Oysters and live music from the Hewlett’s Creek Boys. We commandeered a front-row parking spot and built a fire. It looked more like a tailgate party than an oyster roast. The small crockpot of BBQ and quart of coleslaw was a last-minute addition.
This past Saturday, we hosted our 8th consecutive sold-out event with 150 parishioners, family, and friends in attendance. The tent is now larger, enclosed, and heated as of this year! In roughly two hours, we went through 20 bushels of oysters and over 50 pounds of BBQ. Thanks to all that helped make this event a continued success and we look forward to seeing you all next year for our 9th annual “Shuck-On-the-Sound!”
